Sources Crossing Festival 2022

“Sources Crossing Festival” is a new initiative conducted by AASO to enhance study support to students by providing them with a platform to exchange study sources. Students can also expand their personal network in HKU and leverage on the peer support in academic matters through the exchange processes.

In view of the enthusiastic responses, two rounds of Sources Collection (“Donation Period”) after the Assessment Period of Semester 1 (20 Dec – 30 Dec 2021) and then the first week of Semester 2 (17 Jan – 21 Jan 2022) were organized. We are glad that a total number of 234 sources of various courses in hardcopies and electronic format were successfully collected from over 60 students. The wide variety of courses and sources offered students abundant choices of materials that might be useful for their studies.

The Distribution of Sources (“Selection Period”) was held during the Reading Week of Semester 2 (7 Mar – 11 Mar 2022). Considering the pandemic situation, the event was switched to online mode. Instead of paying a visit to AASO in person, students picked the sources at home safely via the AASO’s “Online Sources Selection System”. The system allows student to browse the course codes of available e-sources, make the selection and submit the request based on the quota they obtained by donating sources. Upon a successful request, an automated email with the chosen e-sources information would be sent to the student who picked it and the donor at the same time to facilitate their exchange. We believe that the exchange processes not only provided opportunities for students to obtain study sources from fellow students, but also created an environment for more interaction and exchanges on different academic matters in the wider student community.

We hope students had enjoyed this Sources Crossing Festival and we look forward to having the festival conducted in offline format with more face-to-face interaction next year!
