The workshop “‘Meet and Chat’ for Study Success 2020 – For Direct Year Admission (DAS) Students” was held successfully via ZOOM on 31 July 2020. A record-breaking number of over 250 new HKU entrants, admitted through the Direct Admissions Scheme to Senior Year Places, enthusiastically took part in it.

During the workshop, Prof. Gray Kochhar-Lindgren, Director of the Common Core Office, Ms Iris Ip, Programme Manager of the International Affairs Office, Ms Candice Cheung, Assistant Director (Advancement and Administration) of CEDARS, Ms Kitman Chan, Social Sciences and Business and Economics Librarian of the Libraries and Mr Nelson Chau, Administrative Assistant of AASO, shared with participants the tips on how to achieve the most of their university journey, covering a spectrum of popular topics such as skills essential to navigate university study, Common Core courses, study abroad opportunities, student support services of CEDARS and library services. The workshop also included 9 concurrent breakout online ZOOM sessions, which were led by 22 passionate senior DAS students coming from different Faculties/programmes. Participants could join the sessions hosted by the seniors of their own programmes and many new students found this arrangement helpful. As we observed, the discussion was vigorous and the sharing of seniors was practical and inspiring. ★
