“Major Minor Week 2021”, one of our most important annual events in the year, was held successfully over ZOOM from January 25 to January 29, attracting the participation of over 400 students of different years of studies from various Faculties.
Launched in 2012, the Major Minor Week has been very popular among students since its inception. In light of the COVID 19 pandemic, it was conducted online this year. Same as before, the activity spread over 5 afternoons. Each time, AASO invited Faculty Student Advisers/AASO friends and the administrators of different Faculties to join us for a virtual sharing session. In the first part, there was a succinct introduction to the tools and resources for major/ minor selection; then, two concurrent breakout sessions were held for participants’ selection according to their interested major/minor.
We are extremely grateful to have the support of over 80 senior students in the sharing events, including some of our “old friends” who are already postgraduate students now. These sharing students came from a wide spectrum of majors/ minors. Their insights and suggestions were found to be immensely helpful and practical in helping participants make informed academic choices.
