Faculty Student Advisers (FSA) play a crucial role in HKU’s university-wide academic advising system. Leveraging on their personal experience in adjusting to university life, peer advising serves as a valuable and influential means of support for first-year students. To ensure that our FSAs are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and advising skills for the upcoming academic year, a series of Faculty-based training workshops were conducted.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Faculties and the Counselling and Person Enrichment Section of CEDARS for their invaluable support in facilitating these interactive and comprehensive sessions. The workshops covered various essential topics of advising, including university regulations, the roles of FSAs, and available campus resources. This year, we have introduced new case study scenarios that FSAs found beneficial in acquiring practical skills for handling challenging cases. Overall speaking, these workshops not only served as a platform for FSAs to connect and foster relationships with each other but also reassured them that they are not alone when facing challenging advising scenarios.
