The mini-workshop titled “How to Support Your Peers More Effectively“ for student advisers was held successfully over ZOOM in the evening of 23 April 2021 (Friday). A number of serving Faculty Student Advisers (FSAs) and Residential Student Advisers (RSAs) took part in it. We are glad that the discussion had been very vigorous. Participants learnt more about communication techniques, rapport building skills and available campus resources for peer advising after attending the Workshop.
This online workshop was delivered in an interactive mode through polling, practical tips and case studies sharing. Participants were divided into small groups in the latter part of the workshop to share their first-hand experience, for example, how they handled difficult advising situation(s) and what skills they had utilized. The exchange of views was frank and fruitful. We hope to organize similar events in future so that our student advisers could have more chances to consolidate their experience and hone their peer advising skills.
