“Meet and Chat” for Study Success 2023
The workshop “Meet and Chat” for Study Success 2023 for New Direct Admissions Scheme (DAS) Students was held successfully via ZOOM on July 26, 2023. We are delighted to welcome around 150 new HKU entrants from different Faculties and programmes who were admitted through the Direct Admissions Scheme, joining this online welcoming session.
Ms Alice Yeung from AASO extended a warm welcome to all the new DAS students and guest speakers at the beginning of the workshop. We were honored to have Professor Samson Tse, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Jack Tsao, Associate Director of the Common Core Office, Ms Cherie Lau, Programme Manager of the International Affairs Office, and Ms Connie Kwong, Assistant Education Librarian of the University Libraries as our guest speakers. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including the essential skills for university study, the essence of Common Core courses, study abroad opportunities, and student support services of CEDARS and the Libraries.
Following the presentations by different University units, eight concurrent breakout online ZOOM sessions were led by 15 passionate senior DAS students. To facilitate the discussion, participants could choose to join the session that was hosted by the seniors of their own programme. Senior DAS students shared tips and advice through their first-hand experience sharing and the Q&A session. It was particularly helpful in addressing programme-specific questions and concerns. This workshop was a great opportunity for new DAS students to connect with each other and learn from experienced seniors.
