Peer advising is one of the key components in the University-wide academic advising system. As reflected in our recent survey, senior students are considered as the main source of advice by first year students. To provide foundation to the model of academic advising and to equip serving Faculty Student Advisers (FSA) of this academic year (2021-2022) with appropriate skills and necessary knowledge, training sessions were conducted with the support of Faculties and the Counselling and Person Enrichment Section of CEDARS.
All these workshops were delivered in an interactive mode via either ZOOM or face-to-face format, with practical discussion sessions on students’ diverse study issues. A range of topics were covered, such as: information about the University-wide academic advising system, importance of peer advising, roles of student advisers as well as basic skills and tips.
