Sheena Yap

Sheena always has a passion for writing. This is why she has chosen to study Journalism as she wanted to speak for citizens, especially the needy and the less fortunate. She also chose politics as her second major as she was keen to learn how citizens can influence and even participate in the government’s decision-making process.

Sheena received the Hang Seng Bank Scholarship, Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship, K K Ho Scholarship and JMSC Young Journalist Scholarship when she was at HKU. “Receiving these scholarships motivated me to maintain and improve my level of achievement. It is very encouraging to know that my hard work has been recognised,” she added. “It is also a meaningful gift for my family, who has been very supportive of my goals.”

Sheena graduated with first class honours in 2011. She was grateful for the support she received at HKU and strives to work hard and give back to the community, helping people to achieve their goals as the scholarship donors did for her!
