photo of our scholar - Kelvin Wang Kelvin Wang is currently a PhD student. He is a registered nurse who graduated from HKU in 2004 and subsequently, worked at Queen Mary Hospital for three years. He understands the importance of primary care during work. He therefore decided to pursue his PhD studies in Public Health with focus on adolescent smoking.

For his PhD studies, Kevin used a database from a large scale survey to find that exposure to secondhand smoke was associated with smoking initiation, smoking addiction and quitting among children and adolescents in Hong Kong. His future studies will continue to investigate modifiable social and environmental factors for smoking prevention and the promotion of smoke-free homes.

Kevin is grateful to be awarded the YS and Christabel Lung Postgraduate Scholarship, which provides crucial support for his PhD studies in Public Health.
