Born to a Pakistani family in Hong Kong, Raza was raised and received his education in Hong Kong. Having witnessed many of his fellow peers’ battles to receive a university education due to the Chinese language proficiency requirement, Raza did not give up. Instead he took French when he sat for the HKCEE and managed to achieve good results. With a passion for sharing, Raza is determined to be a school teacher and is taking Liberal Studies as his major at the Faculty of Education.

Raza comes from a grass-roots family and, to him, being able to study abroad was once a very distant dream. He was one of the few scholars to be awarded the prestigious HSBC Overseas Scholarship Scheme. With the scholarship, he was able to go abroad to study at the University of British Columbia in Canada during his Year 3. He is indebted to the support of the HSBC Foundation, without which he would not have been able to broaden his horizons through a fruitful academic and cultural exchange. The experience was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him.
