Invited to review meeting with the Faculty Review Committee on Student Performance and Discontinuation (FRC)

After you know your advisees have to sit for FRC:

  • Reach out in a supportive manner
  • Listen with empathy and help them open up
  • Guide them to reflect on the real causes of their study problems and how the issues might be interrelated
  • Help them devise an action plan which addresses their previous issues and study difficulties
  • Encourage advisees to make use of university learning support and community resources e.g. counselling, financial aids, language support, social welfare
  • Remind them to gather support documents for submission e.g. medical certificate, support letter
  • Highlight the importance to submit personal statement / documentation on time, attend the meeting in person and respond to communications from Faculty/Department promptly
