Invited to review meeting with the Faculty Review Committee on Student Performance and Discontinuation (FRC)
After you know your advisees have to sit for FRC:
- Reach out in a supportive manner
- Listen with empathy and help them open up
- Guide them to reflect on the real causes of their study problems and how the issues might be interrelated
- Help them devise an action plan which addresses their previous issues and study difficulties
- Encourage advisees to make use of university learning support and community resources e.g. counselling, financial aids, language support, social welfare
- Remind them to gather support documents for submission e.g. medical certificate, support letter
- Highlight the importance to submit personal statement / documentation on time, attend the meeting in person and respond to communications from Faculty/Department promptly
