Combining neuroscience and chemical engineering, a research team at Stanford University has developed a new lab technique that renders a mouse’s brain transparent. Based on Stanford’s research results, Lai Hei-Ming (MBBS, Year 4) has successfully replicated the experiment under supervision at HKU’s laboratory using a simpler method.

Hei-Ming was recipient of the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award (with $150,000 grant money) in 2015 and he will be going to Imperial College London again this summer to further develop his research. This is just the beginning of his academic exploration journey.
