The University has partnered with world-class universities to launch new collaborations: undergraduate dual degree programmes. Each programme capitalises on the strengths of two leading international universities, thereby providing students with opportunities to experience different learning environments and cultures. Students will be awarded two Bachelor’s degrees, one from each respective university, in four years upon successful completion.
Examples of the latest dual degree programmes are as follow.
HKU-Sciences Po
HKU and Sciences Po, France’s leading university in social sciences, are launching the HKU-Sciences Po Dual Degree Programme. The four-year programme aims to provide a global education for students interested in business, the humanities or social sciences.
The multidisciplinary programme, with an international focus, will include a common core of social sciences courses as well as specialised regional-specific courses, such as the Europe-Asia programme. Students will spend their 1st and 2nd year in Sciences Po and then 3rd and 4th year in HKU pursuing a major at one of the three faculties: Arts, Business and Economics, or Social Sciences.
HKU-University College London (UCL)
HKU-University College London (UCL) Dual Degree Programme in Law is another exciting collaboration, which allows students to acquire knowledge of Hong Kong law, while experiencing British culture and legal aspects.
Students will spend the first two years in London and the remaining two years in Hong Kong. Professional skills for future legal practice in both jurisdictions will also be developed with students engaging in vocational placements at both UCL and in Hong Kong.
Students who have demonstrated excellent academic achievements and aptitude for the programmes may be awarded a scholarship. The scholarship amount can value up to the full tuition fee plus a living allowance of HK$40,000 per year during their stay at the overseas institution.
Graduates of the programmes are expected to be future leaders who can understand and bridge the cultures of Asia and Europe.
