Rules and Regulations
- The following study resources will NOT be accepted:
a. Materials, especially textbooks or references books, that violate copyright law.
b. Lecture handouts from more than 3 years ago.
c. Self-written notes containing inappropriate content or fraudulent information.
d. Past papers on quizzes or tests that might raise concerns over academic integrity. - Students are responsible for checking their materials to ensure that any valuables or personal information (such as names or UIDs) are removed before they are given away.
- Each student is allowed to pick up a maximum of THREE pieces of learning materials, regardless of the number of learning resources they have given out. Students are required to show their valid student cards for the collection.
- [For e-copy] Each e-copy can be picked up by a maximum of 3 students. The donor’s email will be shared with the receiver(s) for purpose of material collection only.
- Once resources are given away or picked up, there are no returns or exchanges.
- Resources that remain after the pick-up period might be distributed to other students via the Moodle forum or in the subsequent Carousources campaigns.
- The Academic Advising and Scholarships Office (AASO) will take photos and/or video footage during the campaign for potential future publicity purposes. By participating in the campaign, students grant AASO their consent for the use of these photos and footage.
Important Points to Note
- The Academic Advising and Scholarships Office (AASO) merely serves as a platform for learning resource exchange among students through Carousources.
- Please note that the campaign operates on an honour system. AASO does not review or guarantee the quality and validity of the resources collected and distributed.
- By giving study resources to AASO, students consent to AASO retaining, using and disposing of such materials.
- AASO might intervene at a minimal level in disputes or issues that arise during the source exchange process. However, feedback received will be considered for future reference regarding participation eligibility.
- Participation in Carousources implies acknowledgement and acceptance of the above rules and regulations. Your understanding is appreciated.
Frequently-asked Questions
- What procedure should I follow if I want to give away/pick up learning resources? Is there anything I need to pay attention to?
Please refer to our campaign page and make sure to check the “Rules and Regulations” before participating in the campaign. - How many materials can I get in exchange for those I give away?
Each student is allowed to pick up a maximum of 3 pieces of learning materials, regardless of the number of learning resources they have given out. - How can I check the resources available for picking up?
You can access this link (to be provided after the give-away period) to view the list of all giveaway materials. For the latest availability of resources, we recommend visiting our office in person within the pick-up period. - What should I do if the study resources I receive are not up to my expectations? Or if the resources for my upcoming courses are not listed for distribution?
Given the voluntary nature of this campaign, we cannot guarantee the quality of or availability of all courses. Once resources are collected or distributed, there are no returns or exchanges. We appreciate your understanding and participation in this campaign. - What should I do if the donors don’t respond to my emails when I try to get the e-copy from them?
Please inform AASO if you encounter such issue. While AASO might only intervene at a minimal level in disputes or issues that arise during the source exchange process, we may place unresponsive students on a “watch list” for future campaigns if there are repeated, verified complaints. - I am not a UG student, can I still join this campaign?
All HKU students are invited to join this campaign. However, it is primarily intended for undergraduate students. While postgraduate students are welcome to give away resources, only undergraduate students can collect them.
We look forward to your participation in making this a collaborative and enriching experience!
